The 2013 Toy Shop is Saturday, December 7!EUMC's All Church Toy Shop is a community outreach project provided in collaboration with the Edmonds Food Bank and a ministry of Edmonds United Methodist Church. In 2011 the Toy Shop provided a new book, stuffed animal and toy for over 1,000 children in need in our community.
Planning for the Toy Shop begins in August with the in church toy collection taking place September through November, ending with food donations for the Food Bank. Additional gifts are collected from the South Snohomish County Rotary Alderwood Giving Tree, for which the church provides a full week of volunteer staffing (42 – 2 hour shifts). From project coordinators to toy shop volunteers, hundreds of church and community volunteers are involved in the planning, toy donation, set up and execution of the event. Community partners include the South Snohomish County Rotary, Edmonds Fire Department, Edmonds Daybreak Rotary, and Boy Scout Troop 312.
The Toy Shop has evolved greatly over the years. We are always very grateful for all the volunteers that continue to make the Toy Shop a priority.
As in past years our goal is to provide one new toy/bicycle for each child. In addition a stuffed animal and book, these can be gently used. It looks like we already have a huge selection of bikes and we are so happy. We gave more than 1,000 children a Christmas present last year. This economy is not improving enough to assume our numbers will go down.
We need enthusiastic volunteers and thoughtful mindful gifts. Remember, this may be the only gift these children receive. Below are the dates for collection for the many items we need. We will always accept donations at any time and we also are happy to take monetary donations to purchase items.
