Tutoring Program

EUMC's Tutoring Program is a community outreach program that provides one-on-one tutoring to children in grades K through 6 followed by dinner for the students, their families, and the tutors. The program takes place Wednesday evening November through May. The students in the program attend either College Place Elementary or Edmonds Elementary and are chosen to participate by the student’s teacher and principal. We are currently providing 23 hours of tutoring to 20 students for the ‘08-‘09 school year which began November 2008.

This year a total of 48 volunteers participate in the tutoring program as tutors, substitute tutors, snack providers, cooks, clean up crew, and coordinators. The program volunteers are recruited from the church and the community through articles in the Guidelights, Beyond Sunday Morning, and word-of-mouth.

Highlights of this past year include tremendous participation by the students and families. The majority of the students consistently attend the tutoring sessions, we have had as many as 50 stay for dinner and have consistently served 35+ for dinner each week.
