Spring Semester ChristCare Groups
Grow in faith... Make new friends… Short-term commitment …
Groups begin the Week of April 22 and continue through the Week of June 10, with some variations.
1. Chicklets Women’s Group – Facilitator: Sandy Lingenbrink. Monday, 1:15 - 2:45 Book Study: Hidden Wholeness: The Journey toward an Undivided Life by Parker Palmer. A lively, fun group!
2. Men of Dawn Group – Bible study: The Book of Amos followed by a study of Romans. Saturdays, 7:30 – 9:00 a.m., Room 302. Men of all ages welcome!
3. Monday Night Women’s Group -- Co-Facilitators: Meggie Rodgers/Peggy Cousins. Bible Study: The Gospel of Luke and then the group will decide what’s next. A welcoming, friendly group!
4. Living the Questions Women’s Group – Shared leadership. A group of women who meet weekly in members’ homes. Mondays, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Book Study: Stages of Faith: The psychology of human development and the quest for meaning by James W. Fowler. For those who are interested in asking questions about our faith. Lots of lively discussion and fellowship.
5. Monday Afternoon Men’s Group - Facilitator: Bob Schroff. Mondays at 4-5:30 pm in Room 302. Book study: Half Time: changing Your Game Plan from Success to Significance by Bob Buford. Have you ever seriously considered how much of your focus in on the struggle for success as opposed to the question for significance? Come join the discussion! Tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, May 7.
6. Renovare - Facilitator: Shared leadership. Mondays, 11:00 a.m.- 1:30 p.m in the Library. We will use THE UPPER ROOM as basis for discussion. Mondays, 11:30 – 1:30 p.m.
7. Sisters! – Facilitator: Helen Davenport, – Mondays, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. beginning April 22. Text: What’s the Least I can Believe and Be a Christian: A Guide to What Matters Most. Curious? Join us!
8. Single Retired Women -- Facilitator: Virginia Redfield. Gathering/informational Meeting: Sunday, April 22, following the second service.
9. Who Is My Neighbor? A Faith Discussion on Immigration - Facilitator: Pastor Paul. Wednesday evenings; 7:15-8:45 pm; April 25-May 30. Helping us to bring into tension our role as a U.S. citizen and our faith viewpoint on this issue of immigration as faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
10. “Making Marriage Last a Lifetime”. Facilitator: Julie Boyd. Tues. evenings 7pm-8:30 pm. at Bob and Julie Boyd's home (Lake Serene area) A DVD series by Adam Hamilton. Positives in relationships will be emphasized and looking at ways to deepen and enrich our lives with our partner will be explored.
11. Parenting Group - Facilitator: Julie Hehn. Gathering/Informational meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 to decide focus, meeting time.
12. “Same Lake, Different Boat: Coming Along People Touched by Disability”. Facilitators: Sharon and Andrew Ryder.. As a follow-up to the overwhelming positive response to Belonging Sunday in February, join us for a book study by Stephanie O. Hubach on the issues and ideas of ability awareness, belonging, and what a church family can do to embrace and welcome people with all kinds of disabilities and their families. Day/Time TBA.
13. A mini-ChristCare Group! “Embracing an Adult Faith: What it Means to be Christian” -- Facilitator: June Jackson. 3 one-hour sessions; Sundays 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.; April 29, May 6, May 20. Group participants will enjoy witnessing Dr. Marcus Borg in actual dialogue via DVD with a small group of adults as they honestly – and sometimes painfully – confront the big questions of Christian Faith: Who is God? What place does Jesus hold in contemporary Christian faith? What does salvation mean? A great chance to try out a mini-version of a ChristCare Group!
14. Saturday Walking Group – Facilitator: Sonja Adams, with shared leadership. This group will walk for exercise at a moderate pace. Informational meeting for all those interested – April 22, 11:45 a.m.
15. Testing the Waters – Facilitated by the pastors. A group for those interested in exploring membership in this church. Watch for dates and details.
