Thrift Shop

When the Edmonds UMC Thrift Shop opened September 15, 1981, its primary purpose was to provide revenue to supplement the church's General Fund and over the years has helped supplement the EUMC budget. In 2009 the Outreach Team requested the Finance Committee to designate all funds for 2010 be directed to the EUMC's Emergency Assistance Fund to help persons in the community who were experiencing financial difficulties and this was approved.

With the support of generous church member donations, the Thrift Shop volunteers sort, display and sell merchandise each week. They continue to set out free items for the Food Bank clients each Tuesday as well as for the Trinity Lutheran church homeless program that EUMC partners with. Volunteers also regularly glean items for Church of Mary Magdalene (homeless women), Clothes for Kids, Toy Shop, and other agencies or needy persons as needed.

There have been many faithful volunteers over the years--Norma Stewart, Polly Perio, Myrtle Stansfield, Erlene Stevenson, June Langstrom, Juanita Ensor, Claire Miller, Juanita Hunter, Jean Olson, and more recently, Grace Fisk, Donna Vette, Elaine Stewart, Dorothy Jennings, Elaine Jensen, Dorothy Redd, Melissa Coronado as well as Judith Bowman and Cheryl Jones who are not even EUMC members.

Please continue to support this vital outreach ministry of our church by donating clean men, women and children's clothing, small household items, jewelry, books, etc. as well as expressing appreciation to the faithful volunteers who keep this ministry going. The Thrift Shop is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is located on the lower level on the West side of the church.
