Dear John: Love is an art involving skills that must be developed and practiced over a lifetime," philosopher and freelance theologian Sam Keen has written. It begins with the exhilarations of romantic love where swoon and spontaneity open us up to each other. Then there is the leap in the dark which is required in making a commitment to stand by each other and be true to one another over the long stretch of time. The hardest part of a love as an art is having the patience and the perseverance to handle the oatmeal phase of intimate relationships where the pressures and tedium of everyday life test our love. All of these stages are part of Dear John.

PLEASE NOTE! OPTIONS FOR YOUTH ON SUNDAY MORNINGS INCLUDE HELPING IN THE ONE-ROOM SUNDAY SCHOOL, THE NURSERY, OR THE PEA PATCH, OR REMAINING IN WORSHIP. IT IS NOT AN OPTION FOR YOUTH TO BE IN THE BUILDING UNSUPERVISED. WE DO NOT OFFER SUNDAY SCHOOL ON MOST SUMMER SUNDAYS IN ORDER TO GIVE OUR VOLUNTEERS A BREAK. OUR SAFE CHURCH POLICY REQUIRES A MINIUMUM OF TWO UNRELATED ADULT CHAPERONES AT ANY GATHERING OF YOUTH IN THE CHURCH BUILDING. PLEASE HELP US MAINTAIN A SAFE CHURCH FOR OUR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, AND YOUTH.

MISSION CONTROL!

For youth finishing 6^th-8^th Grade: We will do a 3-4 day sleepaway community service camp with Bothell United Methodist Church August 1-4. The cost will be $50. We will be staying at the Bothell Church. More information on times and activities is available from Pastor Paul.

Camping: John Rubenkonig has reserved a site for a camping trip the weekend of September 24. Youth will set agenda and menu. If you have any interest, please let John or Pastor Paul know!!
