Upcoming Gatherings

NEXT EPAG MEETING

Join us as we gather to discuss ongoing work with our three priorities and other important upcoming national actions. We hope to have a speaker join us in July. More details to come.

Sunday, July 26, 11:25 am in the Library

MONDAY MORNING COFFEE & CHAT

Come join our rousing political chats as we explore the breaking and on-going issues of the day. Don’t worry if you’re not up on all the news! Listeners are welcome too. We are a small group of 5-8 people who needed a place to talk and share with other people in a time of isolation and overwhelm. For us courage is contagious. Don’t forget your coffee!

Most every Monday at 10-11:30am at the church in the Wesley Room

Who are we?

‍The EUMC Political Action Group (EPAG) is a gathering of over 90 church members and friends who are actively standing up for our Democracy. Members of this group participate at weekly protests, large national protests, gather to write postcards, speak up at Town Halls, and make calls to our Senators and Representatives, and to the White House. We also provide community and support to each other as we suffer from grief, anger, trauma, and confusion. We stand together in faith for our Christian and Methodist values because courage is contagious!

We first began meeting in February 2025.

Leaders: Diana Nielsen, Nora Carlson, Mary Sherhart, Robin Seyfried

EPAG 3 Priorities for May - Nov. 3

Educate & Activate

  • #1. Detention Center Watch & Immigrant Support

47 miles south of Edmonds in Tacoma Washington you will find the NW Processing Center located in a desolate warehouse district in a stark and almost windowless building. This facility is owned and run by the GEO Group Corp., a for profit company operating under the direction of ICE - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Over the past year our group has attended three protest rallies outside the the barbed wire fence enclosing the facility. In the last month, we have committed ourselves to learn more about this place, the corporation that owns it, about ICE, about conditions in the Detention Center, and most important, who are the people being held there, where are they from, what are their names? Click below to learn more about our plan and how we are moving forward.

  • #2. Safe & Secure Midterm Elections

During the months of June and July, EPAG will begin to formulate our plans to participate actions to monitor safe and secure midterm elections, support get-out-the-vote actions, and learn all we can about the voting process here in our county.

  • #3. Protesting

We are committed to visible and loud protest in our community as a means to show others our commitment to Democracy and our future. We’ve participated in every national and many local protests and rallies. We are committed to being a part of the 3.5% of population rising up and speaking up for our democracy.

Community opportunities and actions

  • Edmonds Singing Resistance

Sponsored by EPAG & South Snohomish County Indivisible

Rehearsals are the 2nd Monday of each month at Edmonds United Methodist Church and we sing at political events in Edmonds, Lynnwood, and MLT . . . and beyond.

Email our group leader Mary Sherhart at mary@marysherhart.com

Singing Resistance is a nonviolent grassroots movement that uses mass vocal harmony and shared song to protest authoritarianism, resist immigration enforcement actions, and build community. Originating in Minneapolis in early 2026, the movement has grown nationwide, drawing on historical freedom songs to process grief and project courage.

  • "Good Trouble Lives On" national weekend of action

    JULY 18-20, 2026

Across America, let’s make good trouble.

We are facing the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations. The same spirit that fueled Selma, Montgomery, and the March on Washington lives on in our unified action.

    Locations in Edmonds & Lynnwood
    • TEACH our community members about the critical fight for our freedom to vote,
    • REACH out to our neighbors to bring them into this movement, and
    • PREACH to our loved ones about the moral necessity to carry the torch of the civil rights movement.

Our past actions and events.
